Less doomscrolling. More good brain stuff. Here’s what made us smile this month.
🎧 Grace Tame gets Autistic AF
Former Australian of the Year Grace Tame launched Autistic AF — a whole podcast series about the reality of being an autistic woman.
She talks masking, misdiagnosis, late diagnosis and overlooked strengths, with guests including Heartbreak High star Chloe Hayden.
Autistic women talking about autistic women?
Into the microphone you go. 👏
💛 Sam Thompson wishes he'd known sooner
TV and radio favourite Sam Thompson got very open about being diagnosed with ADHD at 30 — and admitted he's “gutted” it wasn't spotted when he was a child.
He spoke about struggling at school and feeling misunderstood.
Another reminder that the “difficult”, “lazy” or “too much” kid might actually be...
a kid whose brain nobody understood yet.
🎬 Busy Philipps: “A whole world opened up”
Actress Busy Philipps spoke about receiving her ADHD diagnosis at 39 after recognising the signs while her own child was being assessed.
Suddenly, years of struggling with organisation and focus made a LOT more sense.
She also talked about hyperfocus actually helping her acting career.
Turns out understanding your brain beats spending decades wondering what's wrong with it. 🙌
💼 Researchers asked ADHD adults what actually makes work WORK
Rather than deciding what ADHD employees need from the outside, new research published in June examined ADHD adults' own experiences of workplace strain and support.
Because perhaps the people living with ADHD every day might have some useful ideas about ADHD-friendly workplaces.
Wild concept, we know. 😂
👵 And we're finally talking about the older generation
Late diagnosis conversations are beginning to stretch beyond people in their 30s and 40s.
Experts highlighted just how many autistic adults over 60 may have lived their entire lives undiagnosed — and why getting answers can still be meaningful later in life.
There is no expiry date on understanding yourself. ❤️
🌶️ JUNE'S VERDICT
Autistic women taking the mic. Celebs talking honestly. ADHD voices actually being listened to. And older neurodivergent people finally entering the conversation.
June understood the assignment.
See you in July for another dose of good brain news.
Because normal is overrated.
